Paul Hughes - Melbourne VIC

I am a 47 year old Artist living in deepest darkest suburbia with my wife Julie and my daughter Erin. At the end of 2006 I decided to make my artwork a fulltime thing

I say thing because even I'm not sure if it's a job yet Having worked in dozens of different mind numbing and soul sapping jobs over the years, Painting, Drawing and Music have always been my escape.

I have played Been involved in music since my teens, playing bass in punk bands really badly and singing lead vocals in all genres from metal to muzak (cover bands). I studied Illustration and design in my 20's and have always loved cartooning and working in a low brow style.

I have produced work for bands such as posters and record sleeves and have sold the odd painting here and there over the years. I recently had my first solo show at the Frankston Arts centre (I said I lived in suburbia) and have just competed in the Linden Gallery Post Card Show, sadly no prize but I did sell all 3 paintings.

My Art Work is influenced by my love of 60's pop culture, garage punk, tin robots, real soul music, skate and surf culture and all the other so called low brow Artists that are out there creating fantastic Art .
